About Us

The Raleigh-Wake Paralegal Association, Inc. (RWPA) was formed in October 1979 by a group of professional paralegals with the primary goal to enhance professionalism and fraternity among legal assistants in the Wake County area.

Who can join and what we offer members...

The RWPA Bylaws provide membership to working paralegals, students, patrons, and anyone with up-to-date North Carolina Paralegal Certification status who lives or works in Wake County or Research Triangle Park. Meetings are held bi-monthly from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month at the Holiday Inn across from Crabtree Valley Mall on Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh. Guest speakers discuss topics related to the legal profession or to self-improvement. Our speakers have included senators, mayors, judges, detectives, a county sheriff, stress-management authorities, bankers, county court officials, IRS representatives, and organizational specialists.

In addition to these member meetings, the RWPA strives to contribute to the community. We sponsor an annual scholarship, provide mentoring services to students enrolled in area paralegal programs, run a job bank listing for members, and host an annual CLE seminar open to those working in the legal field in any North Carolina county. Each year the RWPA also chooses special area projects and provides funds and/or services to those in need. During the year we host social events so that members, area paralegal students and guests can mingle and network.

The RWPA sponsors a website containing general information about our organization and current activities. RWPA members have access to a Members Only section with job listings, minutes of board & member meetings, and member information. Anyone interested in membership in the RWPA may contact any RWPA member for more details or find membership information on this website.
